Welcome to the J-Rock Fan Club. In this club, we enjoy music from all those wonderful and funky artists from Japan that we simply can't get enough of!

A bit of a change here, I'd just like to initialize a form for people to fill so we don't keep getting random drop ins that never come back. >_>
Its just a Q and A form, so off we go!:

Q: What brought you into J-rock?
[example answer] I heard a song on an anime and I had to have it. I then saw other music by that artist and wanted more....

QWho is your favorite Artist, Band etc...?
[example answer] Hard to say. Kinda between Buck-Tick and 9mm Parabellum Bullet and Angela...

Q How long have you been into J-rock? i.e. are you a newbie or an experienced aficionado?
[example answer] 'Bout a year. Give or take. And while I have about 60 gigs of j-music on my pc...I'm defintily not an aficionado..u.u


There won't be much of rankings here. Only other ranks/title you will be able to get will be honorary club members. In order to be a honorary club member, you will have to be active by contributing to the club (i.e. conversational post, uploads, etc). I can't give you the specialized title/color for your name, but I will highlight your name in the club roster. It's not much, but I guess it's something nice to show.

Here's a little blurb about the uploads that you can find in this club. Few of us have been uploading and sharing our little collection of J-Rock albums. You may share it with the club with the only conditions:

-Cannot be a torrent: Not everyone is a full fledged techie nor do they torrent for stuff. I believe that we are better off uploading them and allowing others to directly download the files. Another reason why I do not allow torrents is that, we will not be able to fully credit to whoever uploaded it. If you have a problem with this, deal with it.
-No viruses, trojans, and others of the sort: I'm going to assume that everyone will go by the honor code and NOT upload crap like viruses and trojans. If I find out that someone has uploaded something like it, I will not only boot you, but I will blacklist you from stuff that I may host.

I also listen to the DOPING PANDA mini-album High Brid a lot. I also listen to any Asparagus album at random. Most of their songs are so damn good. I've also listened to POA and Epopmaking by the Beat Crusaders. Epopmaking is an awesome album.

Well I do not agree with the idea that J-Rock is really a genre, as it doesn't really tell you what the band sound like, but instead tells you where they are from.

Didn't know that the Beat Crusaders did something with Asparagus. I just loved Asparagus' cover of Second that Emotion.

Yeah, that mini-album is pure win. Their lead singer, Shinobu is pretty good friends with Hidaka from what I can see. Shinobu was in an old band called captain hedge hog and beat crusaders (early years) did a split mini-album with them as well, WXY. Shinobu is a really talented guy. He can play guitar, drums and sing.

Anyways, if you did like Asparagus, you should DL this. Their first and my favourite album, Tiger Style.

I was browsing the forums to look for the song that AKG is doing for the new bleach opening and found this. (Haven't found it yet, I'm guessing it's a new single) So hey, I hate most of what I hear on the radio lately and really enjoy J-rock. Rewrite was probably the first song I fell in love with, but FMA has pretty good music for all it's op/endings. So, most of what I listen to are from anime I watch; if I really like a group I search out more of their work though.

Rewrite is a great song, but I feel that they have other songs that are just as great, perhaps even better. Songs like Tobunai Sakana, Loop and Loop, Denpatou, etc.

You do have to join esnips to download, but it's worth it and takes about two seconds. :] Plus it's full of rare files, much in the way of Jrock~

All folders are Malice Mizer (I tried deleting the actual folder called Malice Mizer but couldn't, it should be empty)

There's only -ONE- file I didn't upload out of everything I got. I figure there's a lot of repeats (hey, who knows, they might be different versions) that you guys can live with one less "Color me Blood Red"

There's one file as well that's not in a proper folder, couldn't seem to create it for some reason. You'll find it in the folder starting with 'single'.

Well, that was the band Asparagus' new bassist, Naou Hara was in. They were on a indie label and broke up last year. I wanted to hear his band and give it a chance. Impossible to find.

I feel somewhat bad from holding this back from you guys. It's just that I forgot that I had to upload this. If you were somewhat dissatisfied with the BECR covers I gave you in past albums, I would consider listening to this album. They tend to be good with originals, but I find their covers aren't so great. Latest full album from them.

Since they sometimes have quite 'thick' accent in some of the songs. I'm trying to think of the band that is there total opposite, they're a group of Canadians that made a band in Japan and sing in Japanese. Ermm their name eludes me right now it's so frusterating, it on the tip of my tongue. Anyways, sometimes people want 'clear' translations so some words sound the same, like wake up and what's up... Something like that.

Sorry if this is all off topic... but has anyone heard of Kappa Mikey? I realized that Heyx2 Lookx2 is the theme song, which I thought was kinda funny since it's an 'Americanized' show with Japanese puns and such. XD My younger brother and I watch it all the time. >__>

People who've watched Gurren Lagann know it as the "dramatic action/emotional music" in the last 3 episodes. the mix of opera vocals and rap motifs are just excellent, but it's the piano melody that keeps me listening. I have the rest of the 2-cd soundtrack if anyone wants me to upload it as well. some great music from and inspired by the series on there.

T_T!! Dir En Grey toured quite a bit in America..They were in the Family Values Tour...(The concert with Korn and other rock bands like that)...And they were received VERY well..O.O! So they went on the Marrow of a Bone tour...This was the one that I went to..

I've also been hearing a bit of different bands (not so much of Visual Kei, though) going to Anime Cons to perform...

A few of my friends went to 12012's concert (I don't see them on the list >.<) in New Jersey over the summer..It was at a Convention..

So personally, I'd suggest checking out not so much the band, but getting a list of some of the larger, well received Anime conventions and to see if they are going to have a guest band to perform on a certain night..

You never know..You might just find an underdog type of band that is REALLY awesome to listen to.. O.O!

Don't get me wrong, people here like sushi, they're just not truly into the culture. Hey, there are some select areas in Canada that like Japanese culture, just not exactly the area in which I live in.

Dir en Grey is pretty popular in North America being Japanese. Definitely one of the most popular, next to Puffy Ami Yumi.

@ice cold: have you ever heard of a Japanese institute called Shumei International? They're really on the map 'cause I heard that they have about 5 institutes in north america and they teach about agriculture, sustainable living for third world countries and more.
